CENTER OF IMMUNOASSAY (CIE)

The Center for Immunoassay, an arm of BIOCUBAFARMA has developed laboratory equipment and reagents effective in providing accurate, timely provision of results to enhance the practice of evidence-based medicines. Center of Immunoassay has devised an automatic laboratory providing results for up to ninety-six samples in one reading, reducing delays in access to laboratory results.

PRODUCT: SUMASOHF
SUMASOHF is a rapid test for the detection of colon cancer markers. Sumasohf is effective as a primary care setting for early screening.

IMPORTANCE TO JAMAICA
Colon cancer is the third leading cause of cancer deaths in Jamaica. Unlike prostate and breast cancers, colon cancer does not have any early detection mechanism, diagnoses occur when the patient has passed the early stages (1 and 2). Early diagnosis is critical in cancers, and without the expeditious lab, cancers can get worst before treatment can be commenced, increasing the risk of death. The capability for early detection of colon cancer can lead to seismic shifts in the early diagnosis of colon cancer reducing the mortality rate due to colon cancer dramatically.
